O-PHTHALALDEHYDE

o-Phthalaldehyde or ortho-phthalaldehyde is a herbal chemical with the formula C6H4(CHO)2.
often abbreviated as OPA.
o-Phthalaldehyde is a quadrantdehyde consisting of two formyl (CHO) groups attached to carbon centers located on a benzene exchange.

o-Phthalaldehyde is a pale yellow solid substance.
o-Phthalaldehyde is a building block in the synthesis of heterocyclic pictures.
o-Phthalaldehyde is a reagent in the analysis of amino acids.

Phthalaldehyde is a chemical product with the formula C6H4(CHO)2.
Benzene prepared with phthalic acid is one of the three isomers of dicarbaldehyde.
This pale yellow solid is a building block in the synthesis of heterocyclic pictures and a reagent in the analysis of amino acids.
OPA dissolves in water solution at pH < 11.5.
Its solutions deteriorate when exposed to UV rays.
It is similar to the modern synthesis of o-Phthalaldehyde.
o-Phthalaldehyde results in hydrolysis using oxalate.

The reactivity of o-Phthalaldehyde is complicated by the fact that it forms both mono- and dihydrate, common 20, in water.
Their reactions with nucleophiles often involve both carbonyl groups.
o-Phthalaldehyde is tested by capillary electrophoresis and chromatography of amines or sulfhydryls in solutions, especially those found in proteins, peptides and amino acids.
o-Phthalaldehyde is used in a very sensitive fluorogenic reagent.
The isoelectric signals exhibited by o-Phthalaldehyde thiols react specifically with primary amines above Pi.
o-Phthalaldehyde also causes amines such as n-propylamine or 2-aminoethanol to react with thiols.
The method is spectrometric.
o-Phthalaldehyde has fluorescent emission at 436-475 nm (max. 455 nm) with excitation at 330-390 nm (max. 340 nm).

o-Phthalaldehyde is widely used as a high-level disinfectant for medical instruments.
Disinfection with o-Phthalaldehyde is indicated for semicritical instruments that come into contact with mucosa or broken skin, such as internal ultrasound transducers.
o-Phthalaldehyde can be polymerized.
In the polymer, one of the oxygen atoms forms a bridge to the other non-ring carbon of the same phthalaldehyde unit.
It forms a bridge to the extra-ring carbon of the o-phthalaldehyde unit.
Poly(phthalaldehyde) is used in the production of photoresist.

o-Phthalaldehyde is one of the methods used in winemaking to measure the nitrogen that the yeast can absorb, which is needed by the wine yeast.
o-Phthalaldehyde is used in combination with a thiol reagent.
o-Phthalaldehyde is a common method for detecting primary amines in amino acids, peptides and proteins
It is used as a disinfectant and for the fluorometric determination of primary amines and thiols.
An enzyme inhibitor, indicator, chemical intermediate, it is used in water treatment, hair dyeing, wood processing, and to sterilize medical and dental equipment.
o-Phthalaldehyde is also found in antifouling paints.

It is used in combination with a thiol reagent of O-phthalaldehyde (OPA).
o-Phthalaldehyde is a common method for detecting primary amines in amino acids, peptides and proteins.
Despite its widespread use, the exact reaction mechanism has been debated since the 1980s.
Here we measure the kinetics of the reaction between OPA, alanine, and dithiol (1,4-dithiolthreitol, DTT) as a function of pH and reagent concentration.
These new measurements and accompanying kinetic models are used.
