The applications of Potassium citrates mainly derive from its alkaline properties.

Production Methods    
Potassium citrates is produced by adding potassium bicarbonate or potassium carbonate to a solution of citric acid until effervescence ceases, filtering the solution and evaporating to granulation.

Synthesis
Potassium citrates can be synthesized by the neutralization of citric acid which is achieved by the addition of potassium bicarbonate, potassium carbonate or potassium hydroxide to it. 
The solution can then be filtered and the solvent can be evaporated till granulation.
