Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate can be easily weathered in the air at a temperature between 50-60 ℃ as the crystal will quickly lose the water during crystallization.

Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate is a sodium salt of a coordination compound with formula [Fe(CN)6]4−. 
Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate is a yellow crystalline solid, soluble in water and alcohol. 
The yellow color of the compound comes from the ferrocyanide anion. 

The solution obtained from this reaction is treated with sodium salts and later with sodium carbonate to create sodium ferrocyanide after crystallization.

Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate is a synthetic compound that can be commercially produced by the reaction between sodium cyanide and ferrous sulfate in aqueous medium with heat condition as the following chemical equation indicates: 6NaCN + FeSO4 + Heat →  Na4Fe(CN)6 + Na2SO4

Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate is the cyanide complex and its major purposes in food is as an anticaking agent in salts (table salt, sea salt, iodized and non-iodized salt) for human consumption.

Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate is being used and studied as a possible cathode material for sodium ion batteries.
Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate, decahydrate, ≥99% Cas 14434-22-1 - used in producing iron blue and potassium ferricyanide, surface corrosion protecting for tannage and metal, carburization treating for carbon steel, removing iron in pharmaceutical producing.
When combined with a Fe(III) salt, it converts to a deep blue pigment called Prussian blue, Fe3+4[Fe2+(CN)6]3.

Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate is used as a stabilizer for the coating on welding rods. 
In the petroleum industry, it is used for removal of mercaptans.
In the EU, ferrocyanides (E 535–538) were, as of 2018, solely authorized as additives in salt and salt substitutes, where they serve as anticaking agents.

Sodium Ferrocyanide Decahydrate is generally considered to be low in acute toxicity because the cyanide ions are tightly bound to the iron center in the hexacyanoferrate complex, which prevents the release of free cyanide under normal conditions; however, ingestion of extremely large amounts or improper handling could theoretically cause cyanide-related effects, although such cases are rare and unlikely under controlled use in food or industry.

When handled as a fine powdered crystalline solid, sodium ferrocyanide decahydrate can create airborne dust particles that, if inhaled in large quantities, may irritate the respiratory tract, throat, and nasal passages, leading to coughing, sneezing, or mild shortness of breath. 
Although it is not a respiratory sensitizer in most cases, repeated occupational exposure without proper ventilation or protective equipment could exacerbate irritation or cause discomfort in sensitive individuals.
