PONCEAU 6R

Ponceau 6R, or Crystal ponceau 6R, Crystal scarlet, Brilliant crystal scarlet 6R, Acid Red 44, or C.I. 16250,[1][2] is a red azo dye. 
Ponceau 6R is soluble in water[2] and slightly soluble in ethanol. 
Ponceau 6R was used as a food dye, formerly having E number E126.

Ponceau 6R is also used in histology, for staining fibrin with the MSB Trichrome stain.
Ponceau 6R usually comes as disodium salt.

Soluble in water for red, soluble in ethanol for yellow light red, almost insoluble in acetone. 
The strong sulfuric acid for red light blue, diluted for scarlet.

Uses    
Ponceau 6R can be used as analyte in analytical study for determination of 36 artificial pigments in foods by ultra high performance liquid chromatography and time-of-fight mass spectrometry.

Its main role is to impart an intense red color to products.
Ponceau 6R has been used in the MSB (martius yellow–crystal scarlet–methyl blue) staining procedure for the staining of collagen fibers and erythrocytes.
